My friend on Greenwood has a lost and crying Bambi on her hands by Park Ridge. What should she do? She’s seen a family of deer around Delphia & Greendale and they ran across Greenwood to Ni Ridge Park. She tried calling Wildwood Nature Center for advice but they’re closed. What to do? The biggest fear is it will try to cross Greenwood and get hit by a car because who expects a deer to run across the street near that Ressurrection Rehab? If anything, please drive cautiously near the area.

The mother should come back for the baby.

Hi, I am an employee over at Wildwood. We would suggest you call Flint Creek Wildlife Center at (847) 842-8000 Here’s also their info sheet on fawns. https://www.flintcreekwildlife.org/fac.../I_Found_a_Fawn.pdf

Maggie’s advice is spot on- and I’ve seen deer cross greenwood multiple times before so my guess is they came from the cemetery! Mom will come back for babe later I would think!

We had a deer going across our backyards on Austin, just east of Greenwood. The deer crossed Austin and then went through the back yards across the street. He just disappeared.

I have rehabbed baby deer before, but only in the situations where we are confident that mom is not nearby and baby is in distress. The mother is often Close and will come for baby. If not, I am willing to help.
