It is not unusual to feel anxious with all that is going on. Do self help. Many non medical things you can do. There is a phone line through NAMI you can talk to someone. Reading/tv shows that make you laugh. Hot bath with Epsom salts like lavender. Massage and melatonin. Tea w brandy

Yes our bodies are in survival mode and seeking safety. Struggling with this is normal. What do you normally do to cope with anxiety? Do you have any good coping mechanisms?

Hi Emily! These are stressful times for sure. I’m happy to see many people stepping up to offer you suggestions. But I know this can feel like you are all alone. But see? You aren’t! Where are you in terms of faith? I am often comforted by reading the Bible. Especially the Psalms. I love to see how our big God is mindful about all that is happening with me. He cares. he has a plan. He wants the best for me. Do you have a BIble? I would be happy to give you one! I am praying for you right now! And you can pray anytime yourself. Even if you dont know what to say, God hears you and knows what you mean! Take care!

Yes and it is. Very frustrating, my mom says chamomile tea should work but it didnt for me. Others say lavender oils. The only thing that seems to work is a cbd spray that i rub under my nose and behind my ears and it works great

I have been taking bubble baths for the first time in my life to help me relax - lots of products on amazon like bath salts that help.

Covid Insomnia, I just read something about this. Basically, even if your day to day life of quarantine is going ok, everyone’s anxiety is sky high because we don’t know what to expect or how long this will go on. So when you try to sleep your mind won’t shut down. I try to listen to audio books and set the timer on my Phone for them to turn off. If I listen to 3 cycles (30 minutes) then I get up and try to do something else.

I turn on Alexa and listen to ocean sounds and it is so relaxing and helpful to fall asleep. Sleepy time tea helps with a lavender bath or shower

B12 works well for anxiety, but you may also want to consider private therapy, lots of Therapists have moved to teletherapy and more insurance companies are covering it.

Yes this unfortunately occurs from anxiety. Yes I would say to take the vitamin b 12 and complex during day. At night if u can’t sleep you can try melatonin but it never worked for me. So Pop a Benadryl. If it gets real bad then u need to call ur dr.

I have the same problems. Try melatonin, thc, or cbd. Also a white noise machine helps me too! But during these apocalyptic times i had to get anxiety meds from my doc which i never had to do before this and i hate taking medicine! Good luck :(

We swear by Advil PM. We also have a white noise machine. When I really can’t sleep, I stick my earbuds in and listen to the news. It lulls be back to sleep. But if that makes you anxious. don’t do that! 😆

Yes. You just described my life right now. I feel like everything is falling apart and as mentally exhausted I am, the minute I get in bed my mind starts having a conversation with myself and I can’t sleep.

I use a diffuser and play meditation music on my phone. Then I don’t look at my phone down for 30 minutes , the rest of the night. I then read a book and use a noise machine to sleep.

I’ve been listening to ASMR to help you sleep. It is weird but it is helping me. I stay away from any that have anything to do with eating though. It is weird but it has helped me.

I hear you. I've had to make several decisions 1. Limited news watching 2. EXERCISE- Google for classes online to fit you. Can you hook a laptop up to your TV to better see? 3. Mediation app (recommend free guided mediation apps). Takes discipline to do it once or twice a day for 7-10 Mins but after a few days I started to notice a difference 4. Food are you eating the way our grade school teachers taught us? Little from each food group and treats occasionally. 5. Are you talking or better yet videochatting with friends? Making eye contact is very helpful. 6. Focus on today. It's all we can do. Finally, try not to get overwhelmed by instituting these all today. Each day say I'm going to do X like try a free mediation app. If you dont like it, try a different one the next day. This is hard. But you CAN get through this.

SAME. But I stopped reading the news, started working out, and take a really hot shower before I go to sleep. Sometimes I lay on a heating pad or warm up a neck pillow. Hang in there!

Breathe in thru the nose for 4 seconds, hold for 7 seconds, exhale thru the mouth for 8 seconds. Repeat. This has helped me.

I stopped watching the news and got an app called “my sleep button”. It’s strange, but I decided to just trust it and I am shocked at how well it works! I have never been a good sleeper and I have always taken hours to fall asleep. Not when I use this app. Only one time did I have to reset it to cycle through twice. It’s free, so maybe worth a try?

So sorry to hear this Emily. I posted this on another thread but I feel its also appropriate here, as I've been treating a lot gof anxiety and sleep problems at my practice. I am unfortunately too sure of that fact that the anxiety and mental health decline of many will have significant impact lasting much longer than the current situation. Its so important to be proactive and take the best care of ourselves so that our mental health does not end up impacting our physical health. I own a local holistic healthcare practice and I'm currently open seeing patients who are dealing with Insomnia, high anxiety, and high stress, racing thoughts, addictions, panic attacks, headaches. (this list goes on). Some of these issues will add to the unfortunate amount of people in hospitals which is why its so important to be proactive about our mental health right now. We're able to help a lot of people with acupuncture, meditation and other modalities to not only settle anxiety, but prevent further illness. Anxiety and stress lower our immune system, making us more susceptible to illness. Eastern Medicine and acupuncture has been used for thousands of years to strengthen the immune system and decease anxiety. Please let me know if you or anyone else need some help, we have a lot of options to help people through this. Eastern Vitality, Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine In the meantime, definitely keep moving, incorporate exercise, even as soon as you feel your mind racing, get moving - this will rewire your brain from going down a rabbit hole. Journaling and making a daily gratitude list will also rewire how the brain falls into these thoughts. lastly if you need any advice on meditation or apps, I'm happy to help if anyone wants suggestions. please don't hesitate to give my office a call if you need anything 773. 800. 1806 or PM me. I'm happy to help people through this! <3 www. easternvitalityacupuncture. com

I'd been having trouble sleeping when this started too. I'd be up at 3:00 and not able to sleep. Like you, thoughts kept going round and round. I stopped watching the news, listening to radio, avoid any FB posts around the virus. A therapist told me once to keep a journal and writ down any thoughts that was rolling in my thoughts. Helps to get it out of our heads. Call a friend/family member. If you need someone to talk to PM me and I'll give you my phone number. I'm happy to talk to you. Exercise. Eat well. Saw on an Advocate LGH message wear clean clothes, get those PJ's washed and change the sheets. Take a hot shower. seems like common sense, but I'd not thought of that. What you're feeling is valid and you're not alone. write to us here for support too. ❤️🌷⭐️

Yes agree with all of the recommendations to stop watching the news. It’s way too much. Nothing w screens an hour before bed. Maybe try a Benadryl for a couple nights to get you over the hump?

Hi. Yes. I have not read the other comments but I highly recommend not looking at your phone for the first 30 minutes of the day and for the last couple hours before bed. Put on music. Turn off news and even limit FB time to pockets of time. Watch old movies or read. Go somewhere else mentally. I am busy with work so that is keeping my like "normal" . if you are not working or doing anything pre this normal make some positive new normal things routine like walking, running. Do a new healthy thing . I'm going to try yoga. Always wanted to and never have. Hang in there. I applaud your honesty and literally everyone feels this on some level.

Turned my radio to light music so when I wake up and can’t go back to sleep I don’t hear any news.
