Apple care has been calling my elderly mother in Park Ridge. maybe ever hour. She has a land line and I try to block it but Apple keeps changing the number. I know this is spam, but how can I get it stop. She is 70 yrs old and jumps everytime the phone rings to answer it. I tell her to leave it alone, but it is really becoming a danger to her as she really is the type that would fall rushing to answer the phone. And this is NOT an exaggeration. Today it was at least two times in the one hour I was there.

I wish I knew. That's terrible! Maybe call nonemergency and ask them if anything can be done. I understand the risk this poses

Sadly it’s not Apple care. It’s offshore scammers spoofing telephone numbers so that they can deceive the recipient of the call. They do not adhere to TCPA or DNC lists as they are foreign scammers.

She needs a cell. You can program the rings. It also may be a good idea for her to it keep in a pocket so if she did fall she could call for help. There are cheap cell phones and plans.

Actually waste their time like they're wasting yours. Just say "hang on let me go get my credit card" and leave them hanging. Eventually these idiots stopped calling me cause I kept wasting their time.

I have no advice about how to prevent the calls but to minimize the chance of a fall, it might help if she had a cordless phone that she could keep nearby. Also, does she have caller id? That helps, also, so she can avoid answering the phone for an unknown caller. Although many of those calls spoof their numbers to make it look like a local call. It's very annoying!

So true. When Iwas in my 20s I thought 40 was elderly. 😂 I guess age is a point of view!

Same thing happened last week to my almost 80 yr old parents! Sadly, they are trusting and clueless. I ALWAYS have to remind them to NEVER answer the phone if they don’t know the caller personally. I’m

Same thing happened to my 70-something parents over Thanksgiving. They said they were from Best Buy's Geek Squad and that their software protection had expired and they needed to renew immediately for $399. They called multiple times a day until I answered, hit 2 to speak to a rep and angrily called them out for their scam. To which the rep whose accent I could barely understand replied, "Get the F out of here" and hung up before I could offer a fun rebuttal. Good news: The calls stopped.

Sometimes if you answer it at least once you can demand they remove your number.

I put a blocker on my landline. It’s not perfect, but it helps. I got mine from Hammacher Schlemmer. The scammers get through once; then I hit block. 😊 Poof! Gone!

Thing is it probably isn’t Apple. So just make sure the numbers she knows are programmed with contact names and change the ringer for the contacts so she knows only to answer it when contacts are calling. Best way to avoid elderly getting scammed. Then check messages for her.

Buy an answering machine and tell her to listen before answering

They called my house 13 times today within a matter of a few hours. It’s irritating! Obviously, I know it’s a scam and I don’t answer and I also have caller ID and of course it was a different number every time but said Apple INC. I was pretty annoyed today.

I've been getting emails from them. I called them to verify and it's SPAM.

Hiya, there's a 7 day free trial then it's 2. 99 a month. It will block all those calls. I've helped many elderly with this problem.

Seriously got at least 30 “Apple support” robocalls today and into the night! We don’t answer, but they leave hourly recorded messages. It’s so frustrating. 😬😡 Good time to cancel the landline.

Me too. They leave messages “ not to use Apple account - been compromised. Call number provided. ” Or how about the caller IDs: “invalid number” or the number lacking enough digits, or your husband’s name appears as caller ID while you are sitting with him - no phone in his hand. This has to stop or people will stop picking up phone forever!

I'm getting them on my home and cell phone, and I own nothing from Apple. Just have her tell them my daughter already took care of it. And they'll stop.

I got rid of my landline a couple years ago. My cell automatically blocks calls like this. If one happens to get thru I can manually add it to the block list. A friend of mine gets at least 10 of these calls a day. Ends up turning off the phone! That’s not good either. Robocalls are terrible.

Happened to me all day yesterday. It said to press 1 to speak with someone so I did and told them to stop calling and take me off of their list. They hung up on me but the calls did stop.

We got at least ten- fifteen calls yesterday on the landline. I blocked as many as I could but today we got several more🙄🙄🙄 I consider my nephew a kind of Apple guru and when I asked he said the calls are not from Apple. Very annoying🥴
