Pool people - please help in Park Ridge! We have a new Intex 12 foot above ground pool and for the life of me I can’t get the chemicals right. I have followed instructions to shock, added stabilizer and added pH up. Stabilizer is still reading 0, pH still low and total chorine still too high. Basically nothing has changed since first chlorine addition which brought to correct free chlorine but high total chlorine. Seriously. it’s a 12 foot pool! How hard can it be?! We just want to enjoy this summer since everything canceled. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Was it covered during the rain? Rainwater Can affect the balance of my memory serves me. Been a long time since I had a pool.

My experience is only with hot tubs. but I know with hot tubs it’s important to get the ph just right for 24 hours before adding chlorine/bromine and other chemicals, as the ph affects how the other chemicals work. Good luck!

I'm following this because we haven't set ours up yet but not sure what the heck to do.

Work on getting PH up. Do it slowly though. Once you get that in range the other readings will adjust. Then work on chl and stabilizer. Even though all readings are off, it is still safe to swim in.

Take it to a pool store they will analyze it and advise you.

Take some water to Mil-Green on Greenwood in Niles.
