How do you know that the mother left them? The mom usually doesn’t come near the babies during the daytime and watches from a distance. They feed them at night

You should’ve left them where they were at and put some kind of tent cover over it if you were worried about the rain

How long has the mom been gone? They normally only check on the babies at dawn and dusk. This way predators can't find them.

This is good to know! I had no idea that the mom leaves them and comes to check at night. That's odd! I would think that she'd have to keep them warm

Please put them back. It is nearly impossible to rehabilitate such babies. Their only chance is with mom.

Bunnies leave their babies most of the day. Please put them back. She would have been looking for them this morning and again after dusk

I don't think anyone else said it yet but you should put them back.

I had the same situation a few weeks ago. I made a nest for them with a plastic bin and a few towels. Put the bin right where their old nest was so that the Mom can find them. Mom will only visit in the early morning or evening to feed them. We saw their Mom around so I knew they were being fed. I also put a tarp over the bin for the rain. I had 5 and last week the last one left.

Same thing happen to my sister Lauren McMahon. She just left the babies alone and watched for their mom to eventually come back. She probably looked out her window for hours a day, the mom did come back for them. Your scent will not deter the mother from coming back either. That is a myth. She may just give it a good bath.

For everyone judging - please stop. She never said she took them out of their nest. Their nest may have flooded and they were exposed to the elements. I have a nest by my tree that flooded and drowned the babies. Perhaps she’s the only fighting chance of survival they have? Veselka, you can try to put them back in their nest or create one near where you found them or take them to a vet. There are also bunny rehab/rescue centers if you google.

Keep them warm. Contact any rehab or wildlife people. If her eyes are close they’re probably less than a week old. You can try hand feeding them. Look up a recipe for baby bunnies. They cannot take cows milk. https://youtu.be/t6hmyOAH6YI

I don’t think anyone is judging. I think what she did was out of good intentions! She asked and we are just giving advice. My sister went though same thing. That’s all.

I am so glad you found them. Yes, normally you would leave it, but not if they are going to suceptible to drowning. It was a great idea to call professionals. Thanks for asking here. It takes a village.

Ok everyone who is not a rehabber please stop giving advice. Veselka Res put them on a heating pad on the LOW setting. You can keep them in a box with a towel over them. Put them in a quiet dark place away from dogs/cats/kids. DO NOT FEED THEM ANYTHING. I’ll repeat DO NOT FEED THEM OR GIVE THEM WATER. Please call bi state wildlife hotline or Flint Creek Wildlife Rehabilitation and they will instruct you on what to do next. If you bring them to a center or rehabber after you have spoken with them, please consider a donation monetary or otherwise as they get zero funding. Anything helps even a roll of paper towels. Thank you for caring! 💕

I think she gets it now. Enough people have told her the right thing to do. I think lots of people act with their hearts and have nothing but good intentions. Sadly, that’s how mistakes can be made. She’s probably doing her best to put their nest back to how it was and putting babies in. Mom will come back later tonight or early tomorrow morning hopefully. Veselka Res good luck! I remember watching for hours to make sure she came back. My husband thought I lost my mind 😂
