We just found our 1. 5 year old indoor cat deceased. Does anyone know who is open for this type of “vet” service. I’m out of work since 3/10 no unemployment or stimulus check so I can’t afford emergency vet fees. but I’m also sheltering in place in a very tiny condo with no place to preserve our pet. Also, this is my sons cat which he lives for. He is beyond devastated. Does anyone know of a way to get a cat during this time. (Kids are special needs and very dependent on their animals).

Ugh. Wright-Way is doing pickup adoption, if that helps. In Morton Grove.

I’m a volunteer at WrightWay and may be able to put you in touch with someone who can help with both cremation and a new cat or kitten. PM me if you’d like me to try to help.

I’m so sorry . I’d try some of the vets to see what they can work out with you . Or some of the social services . Try the local shelters or check out online adopt a pet or pet finder . I’m sure the shelters would love to give their kitties a new home . I’m so sorry for your loss

Prieser Animal Hospital on Milwaukee Ave also runs Heartland animal Shelter. They’re wonderful

I would also suggest Wrightway Rescue. How terrible and sad - so so sorry for your loss. 🐾😢

Try contacting an animal shelter in your area for a new cat. They might be able to recommend a low cost vet.

Look up Felines and Canines. I believe they are doing drive up adoptions. They are a wonderful shelter that my friend has adopted all of her cats from over the years. They are located on north side of Chicago.

I’m sorry for ur loss. If u can’t find anywhere to take the cat today, possibly put him in a towel and place in car or garage. We had to do this for a few hours with a deceased dog.

I’m sorry for your loss. If you take them to anywhere they will dispose of the body but they’re going to charge you an arm and a leg over $200. There was a place that we went to in Arlington Heights near Arlington Heights Rd. and Dundee Road. I can’t remember the name but they cremated our cat and put her into a little box for $180. You might be far better off just burying him or her in your backyard. There is also a vet that will come to the home it’s like a hospice one. But there’s not much they can do.

We buried our deceased behind our shed. We dug about 4 feet down and put him in a wooden box with a brick as a tombstone. My kids wanted to bury her. No animals ever dug her up!

Barb's Precious Rescue in Arlington Heights. They even cover vet fees for the first 6 months after adoption.

I know it sounds weird but you can put a small pet in a box in the freezer until you can get it to the vet or crematorium. I know it’s creepy but desperate times / desperate measures. I am so very sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry for your loss. If you decide to adopt another cat, we got ours from Wrightway shelter and they were wonderful. I am sure that can waive any adoption fees for your situation. Good luck with everything.

Condolences on your losing your pet. We took our daughter's dog to Elm Lawn Pet Cemetery in Elmhurst to be cremated when he died suddenly. Call them for price.

I’m so sorry for your son. Call Portage Park Vet. They’re now working with Garrido Rescue. Between the two they might be able to find help.

In case you still need this info: Niles Animal Hospital only charged me $28 to send our kitty for cremation last year when he passed away at home. It included a paw print. So sorry for your loss💙

I was going to say Niles as well. They have put down two of our pets and cremations were not super pricey.
