My husband and I would like to do something for the front line workers this weekend in Park Ridge. We can't sew but can certainly make food (sandwiches, etc). Any ideas of where to turn to find out who could use care packages?

There is a Givinkind page. Most facilities aren’t accepting homemade food.

I think Chicago Behavioral Health would appreciate it 🙂 I work there and we are definitely front lines but so are others so no pressure at all!

American wildburger has been sending out 50 a day. You could donate with them like I have. Or call and ask who’s needed the most.

Send Starbucks or Panera coffee and goodies. Or bagels n cream cheese etc. IE something easy to divide and eat. Something from a reputable place near hospital.

Do you send for all shifts? or is it the same people round the clock anyway? Seems lunch and dinner time are always considered-wondering if people send specific for the overnight shift

You could always call a local restaurant & donate a certain amount of money & have them deliver to a local hospital. We did that last week! Just a thought :)

This one has all of the local hospitals. Also, important to note that none of them are accepting homemade food. And the restaurants must prepare individual meals (no pizzas or buffet style food). GiveInKind Meals for Chicago Area COVID-19 Healthcare Workers

Short Fuse Brewing is also accepting donations to feed hospital workers.

Most hospitals are only accepting restaurant made foods, fyi. LGH and you can specify which department, like PICU (pediatric icu), NICU (neonatal ICU), CICU (cardiac icu). The ER seems to get all of it from what I've heard from nurse friends.
