Need advice from others with experience in Park Ridge. I have an elderly mother that needs help, even a live in housekeeper/caregiver. Where do I even start to look? I need someone that is trustworthy/honest. She would have to be able to deal with her smoking. And do the shopping, cooking, laundry, bathe her, etc.

We started with an agency. That bought me time to find someone thru recommendations. It also got my mom used to help.

I just went through this. Live in is costly. An agency will typically do 1 person for 3 days and switch. One person will take 7th day. You will need to decide if she needs day time help or 24 hours. Daytime are typically 8 hour shifts. As mentioned above an agency is great to start as you may get recommendations or local help like above for longer term. Norwood Crossing is a good place to call to start. I believe its Katie there to speak with.

There is a website called A Place For Mom. The are free senior consultants that will give you advice on what to do. They were wonderful for me

A Place For Mom was a life saver! She explained all the different services and places. She helped me determine that my Mom needed Assisted Living. I was able to call her any time that I had questions. Mom and Mom in law were at Alexian Village in Elk Grove Village. It was Supportive Living so they never had to move again because of no funds. I would never have found it without her.

Try care. com. You can browse those looking for work. Site provides background check. I used them to find caregivers for my folks.
