Advice? I got a parking ticket in Uptown for not having a blue sticker by Park Ridge. Which I have, clearly visible in my rear window of both cars, as required, since moving here. I went to the police & they couldn’t dismiss it, but instead signed me up for an informal hearing. I work that day & cannot attend. What now? I don’t want to keep getting tickets, for parking literally in front of my own house & I have no other options because of commuters, it’s all permit parking. I normally park in my garage, but I’m using my garage for storage because I’m redecorating my house.

Charles Melidosian can you please help me with this? I’m very frustrated. I’m entitled to park in front of my own house!

I noticed you said that the sticker is in the rear window. I’m in the brown permit zone and it’s my understanding that the sticker should be placed in the front window. Maybe the ticketing person is missing your sticker?

This info hearings are trash, they always set them at working hours so its not worth taking off for, so you just pay.

Had the same problem with our special parking color coded sticker. So thankful our block voted to get rid of them. There was one officer that continually wrote my husband tickets when he very prominently displayed the appropriate sticker in the appropriate place while parking in the appropriate zone. It's BS!

This is a perfect example of how this great city works. You use you own time to deal with City problems. I got a parking ticket because the app wasn’t working and I was on the train when I realized. They signed me up for hearing and I gave up. Most people give up a fight cuz it costs you more. They know how to enforce it and don’t give a crap.

Those of us who worked /work in uptown have the same issue. Have to move our cars every three hours. If you are busy with customers and forget you get ticket. They mark tires with chalk and ticket 3 hours later. Even for employees they do not give stickers. our company has requested and been denied. We got more tickets than you can imagine. The underground garage has a 5 hour parking area which helps a little. All in all a real moneymaker for Park Ridge for sure.

Park Ridge sucks. They want you to come and spend your money in the stores/restaurants, and when you do, you get penalized for it. My solution I no longer shop in Park Ridge.

The police department doesn’t care about us. I can’t even tell you about the horrible experiences of the last five years we’ve dealt with them not helping us and harassing us instead 🤬

Are you able to contest the ticket in writing? I know other towns have that option because most people can’t take off of work to attend a hearing. Look on the back of your ticket. Hopefully there is an option to contest in writing.

The sticker is supposed to be in the front right side window. If it's not there that may be why you got the ticket.

Ask for a continuance. If it’s important enough to you take the day off.

Try calling Skokie Courthouse---or go there. My neighbor was trying to take care of a Park Ridge ticket for her son who was leaving for boot camp. The Police station couldn't do anything about it either.
