Has anyone painted their house themselves around Park Ridge? Tips? 😬 we (me. my husband doesn’t know yet 😂) want to paint our garage to match the new siding on the house but the prices are INSANE (massive garage) and it’s not really worth the money since apparently our garage is sinking and may be non existent in like 6-10 years anyways 🤦🏻‍♀️ looking for a cheaper fix for the next few years. It’s currently peachy-tan-pink and brown and makes me want to vomit when I look at it 😂 thanks! Edited to add: it’s the older type of siding- I think aluminum- and was painted by the previous owners. Second edit: also what about garage doors? They’re so old they have yellowed. Can those be painted? Or are they a lost cause? They’re the plastic kind not wood or metal

Go for it. . whatever you do will probably be an improvement. Way cheaper to do it yourself. I did my own a few years back. Easy since it’s an outdoor job. less cleanup.

I agree, Go For It! Home Depot rents a paint sprayer, so much easier and faster

And yes plastic/aluminum can all be painted. I would tape off the indows though

Maybe you can rent commercial paint sprayer? It'll be definitely faster than regular painting. Just be sure to secure the area around it, the sprayer creates fine mist that might land on the area that it's not protected: windows, doors, driveway etc.

We rolled. It made a huge difference—we were in the exact same time frame predicament. But it has lasted over ten years. I’ll pm you pics.

My mom and I have been painting our houses and properties ourselves for YEARS! I would love to share some tried and true tricks we’ve learned. Send me a DM if you like. (No I’m not selling anything or even any service). Just want to give some tips 🙂 Good luck!

Be sure to prep the surface or the paint will peel.

Yes everything can be painted I would wash the siding first get that caulking stuff off and use a oil primer and then a latax paint
