Another question. is it reasonable to pay $222 nearby Park Ridge. 00 to rent a tux for a wedding for a child? My son is 12. He is a usher for the wedding. It goes from 12-6pm. My sister has 2 boys that are in it also. They are not sitting at the table with the wedding party. Is there a need to match the rest of the wedding party if they are kids? From what I understand the reason they are so much is because the collar is satin. Is that a lot for a child tux? Thanks.

No that is ridiculous. He should just wear a suit or sports jacket. Some of these weddings are ridiculous and if they want your son to wear it they should pay for it

There are a bunch for sale on Facebook Marketplace for under 50 bucks. Try there. That’s where I bought my daughter’s prom dress last year. Just type children’s tuxedo in search. A bunch come up

It's unfortunate that the bride/groom chose such an expensive option. I would warn that if you do choose to buy or rent separately, you may want to run it by the bride/groom first. I imagine your son will be in several wedding party photos and may look different than the other men.

That’s what I paid 5 years ago to rent for my 3 year old. it’s really up to the bride, if you can’t or don’t want to rent the tux gracefully bow out.

And you know the kids won’t even wear the jacket at the party! Oh my god that’s a lot of money

Talk to the bride about it- sometimes they have their reasons-check the brand and shop around for same one elsewhere

Resale shops like Goodwill have lots of tux jackets on the rack, but for adults. Not so much for children. But you can simply buy one for less than ten bucks, then give it back afterward.

Your son doesn't have to accept the invitation. If you decline due to funds, the groom may find an alternative. Personally, if this were my wedding this discussion would upset me. On another note, my flower girl dresses were $450 a piece 25 years ago, I had 2 sisters. I paid for both dresses and asked to be given one for my daughter if I ever had one.

I just got off the phone from voicing my thoughts and she basically said that it’s that much because it’s not “just” a cheap suite. She said she looked at everything else and they did not have anything she liked except that one. I already told her I was not standing up. The dresses for bridesmaids was 650! I guess I’ll have to suck up the 220. 😐😳🙁 I would like them to be happy, it just sucks everything is so expensive. Glad I never got married 🤪.

Just remember when you buy a tux you also need a shirt a bow tie shoes, it will be the same if not more. It’s not that much, I paid that much 25 years ago for my kids

I would check with the bride and buy one online. I had this happen when my son was 4 and the bride was fine with me buying a tux as long as it was black. Cost $40 on amazon.

If this is your brother’s wedding and this bride is to be your sister-in- law and a member of your family, for the sake of family harmony at the wedding and in the future, I would rent what she wants. ( I wouldn’t like it, though😜) if you can swing it financially.

I would ask the bride about the matching but accepting a role in a wedding comes lots of expense. To avoid future family issues it’s best to just accept it and do what she says. If you accept it early on you’ll have more fun with planing anyway (hopefully. ) good luck!

I don't know why people do this to their loved ones honestly. A wedding is about celebrating, having a beautiful and fun day. Everyone should be free to wear whatever they feel appropriate.

I bought a tux for our grandson on Amazon. Very inexpensive and was just perfect. Of course, if the tux isn’t the standard black this wouldn’t work for you.

My 2 boys (3 and 7) will be ring bearers in May. I just had a convo with the bride and told her to pick whatever tux she wants our boys to wear because I want her to be happy. I think she will be reasonable and $250 per tux is about what I prepared myself to pay. However, I actually never researched this and based on the comments, I hope she allows us to pick one for significantly less.

We had a wedding in November and it cost that much for the little guy. It's their top of the line tux. Absolutely ridiculous. Anywhere else a tux is 100 of less. He might be matching the bridal party.

Usually when you have a larger wedding party, the tux place will give you one or two free rentals, we gave those to any kids in the wedding party

It seems to me that proper etiquette would dictate that a Tux option as extravagant as such would be paid for by the couple . it’s rude of them IMO. Good luck with all this.

My son was a ring bearer last NYE. Tux rentals were from mens warehouse and to buy one was $79. 99. The bride and groom supplied the matching bow tie and suspenders. Even if you had to buy those on your own it's a lot cheaper to buy than rent.
