Spirit airline question in Park Ridge. Has anyone bought a round trip ticket and only used the return but bought a another ticket for an earlier flight to get there? Did everything work out or did Spirit cancel the return flight because you did not arrive to your destination with the original ticket on the itinerary?

They will cancel it if bought as round trip

If you don’t take the first flight they’ll cancel the entire ticket

Happened to my MIL they cancelled her flight. She called and they did book her a free trip home, but she was a wreck.

I'm a travel agent. They will cancel, regardless. The outbound portion is what determines the cost of the ticket and if you don't use it, the ticket is invalid.

I never book round trip tickets domestically for that exact reason. There is just no advantage. All airlines price out the individual legs. If it’s a weather issue, they will let you cancel the return if you don’t get out, especially if same airline.

I won’t fly Spirit. One too many bad experiences with them and substandard customer service.
