My senior asked for his own laptop for Christmas within Park Ridge. What is a good one. He will mostly use it for homework and to download and edit movies he makes in film class and after school film program

Ask his school what they recommend. You may even be able to get it discounted through his school.

If they want to edit I'd recommend at least an i7 processor and plenty of storage.

Probably a MAC for video stuff, but I have a Microsoft surface pro and it’s awesome for daily use

We bought all three of our boys Mac book pros. Abt has their own Apple store AND they saved us hundreds on each one by offering various options the Apple store would not because they were trying to push us to the latest and greatest instead of the machines released the prior quarter. I got machines with twice the memory, upgraded processors and all the bells and whistles. AND no appointment with a. Apple “genius” requires. They also threw in the MS Office package software for free.

You can't go wrong with a MacBook Pro although they are the most expensive option. Make sure it's loaded with RAM.

A MacBook—- expensive yes, but great for movie edits (I took broadcasting and it was great! )

Bought my daughter a Mac Book when she was off to college. screen went out when she was studying in Germany. Brought it to London and had it back in two days no charge. She graduated in May and it is still going strong.

What's the primary use? For some things Windows is better, for other things Mac is better.
