Let’s talk shoes! I’m on my feet all day (teacher) and have been wearing gym shoes (Friday’s) or ballet flats around Park Ridge. I like the look of ballet flats (with Loft dress pants that I typically wear) but I’ve basically bought cheap ones and they have zero support. I need some new shoes. Any ballet flats out there that are comfy and have a little support? Other ideas? While I’m at it, the booties trend is cute, are they comfy all day? So many of the young teachers wear adorable shoes that would kill me! 😂

Tiek's ballet flats are comfortable. I have walked miles and stayed in them all day. they really do absorb the shock so you don't have to.
High school teacher here! I like my All Bird flats, but for something more winter-friendly, you cannot go wrong with Danskos.
I’m a teacher and I bought these Clarks on Amazon and they are AMAZING!
I wear Tieks. . They are a bit more expensive then your average ballet flat but soooo worth it. 😍 https://tieks.com/?utm_term=tieks
Sketchers Cleo or Go walk lite.
Cole Haan ballet flats have decent support. They are pricey, but worth it. I’ve ended up having to wear Danskos at work most days because ballet flats (even good ones) weren’t cutting it. I’m sacrificing fashion over comfort, but I don’t care! 😆
Taryn Rose shoes are also expensive, but have good arch support, etc. They were developed by an orthopedic surgeon.
Another vote for Tieks! Super comfy despite lack of support. Walked all throughout Rome in them, no pain! Worth the price for sure, they mold to your foot.
Tieks. I'm music teacher, so I'm on my feet and dancing and squatting and kneeling and they're all I wear in the fall and spring.
Try Vionic ballet flats! . https://www.vionicshoes.com/caroll-ballet-flat.html?76=20
Tieks have been great
Love Vionics. I’m also on my feet most of the day teaching. I have Vionic shoes but I also love their inserts. They allow me to wear my others shoes and have a much better arch support.
My feet always bother me, but Blondie has cute booties at Nordstrom- love them! Worth it!
Rothy's! They are awesome! So comfortable. Pricey, but great. Let me know if you are interested and I can send you a $20 coupon
Joseph Siebel flats are amazing.
Tieks kill my feet, only wear On days where I don’t teach. Rothy’s pinch my toes, very sore. I wear Korkease boots, or Born, or Paul Green.
Rothy’s.
Dansko
Dansko actually makes some real cute booties, so you get the comfort of their clogs with a bit more stylish package.
If looking for something different than a flat. I have some really comfortable heels from clarks. Some of their styles are cute. but you may have to look through some not so cute to find them. Their arch support has been good for me.
Sketcher's work and gear
Yes ^ Rothy’s!
3rd grade teacher— I bought the Plae flats and I’ve been really happy- buying my 2nd pair- and cheaper than some of the other brands! But go up a size- they run small. https://www.plae.co/coll.../adult/products/crosby-black-opal
$5 Walmart ballet flats here so obviously I'm following. 😂 Let me know what you end up going with!
Try Waxberg’s Walk Shop on Dempster just west of Waukegan Rd. They will fit you and have great quality shoes in a variety of sizes and widths.
Tieks are great!
I’m an airline employee. Monroe, Abeo, and Dansko are the only shoes that will offer you serious support. Don’t get anything with memory foam, as you just compress is to quickly. Go to Nordstrom and try on every pair of Monroe’s! They are awesome. if you go with the Danako’s get the light weight styles.
Pm’ed you!
Dansko!
Sam Edelman flats is what i wear for Sunday School - they look sharp & are comfy -
Do you know i LOVE my suede wedge shoes also ! they tie & are not real high - one pair i have are Toms & i cant remember the other brand you cam definately wear those all day
The best flats that ACTUALLY have support are Vionics!
, Cole Haan, and Sam Edelman! https://charlestonshoeco.com
Torrid (shoes are for any size) has very supportive flats bc they are made for bigger woman who need the support. In general for an awesome supported shoe or flat I always suggest torrid!
Big fan of Dansko - the arch support is amazing. I wear mine pretty much 12 hours a day during the week, and my feet are most happy. Now I personally don’t like the look of them but I’m willing to go forego fashion for comfort at work. ☺️ Another brand I like that is more fashionable is Fly London. If you’re going to try Danskos go to Waxburg on Dempster. There’s different weights, etc & you need be able have a pinky space between your heel & the back of the shoe. Good luck!
I’m on my feet in the OR - dansko all the way!
_too cold for ballet flats now- but I wear Rothys, Sam Edelman and Cole Haan. I now wear Ugg’s which have a wedge heel (I refuse to wear the other ones) and Cole haan wedge booties. I’m in public ed too.
I love Adrienne Brooks flats. They have the tiniest bit of a wedge, but that actually makes a more comfortable difference
AGL they are great
Sketchers has cute shoes
Ecco shoes best investment I've made
Birkenstock, the cork heel helps your back long term too, from the hard floors all day. Dansko also good for support.
Vionic
Toas, , wet comfy and supported. Well made, last forever. https://taosfootwear.com/
Allbirds have a cute ballet slipper. I’m in retail and they are super comfy!
Vionic has ballet flats with built in support. Also try foot petals inserts in other shoes that don’t have arch support. Has helped me a ton! Bought them at Nordstroms.
I’m a nurse. I get it. Try Danskos. They have clogs that are really supportive but I’ve heard they also make a form of flats.
Lots of good brands mentioned here. But I just want to suggest (and maybe insurance covers it) seeing a podiatrist? I took my mom to Dr OShea, she was so great! I've never been to one before. As we get older, sizing could change, posture, bone issues, nerve pain, inflammation, etc could contribute to foot, leg, back pain. Inserts, certain shoe brands, could help. Just a thought, one that I had never had before. But I agree, cheap shoes are no good and do lots of harm.
I swear by Clark’s. Even the ones with the small heals are great support
Check out Sketchers Cleo flats for a more affordable alternative to Rothy’s or Tieks. Not easy to find in stores but available thru Zappos.
Clark’s or born are very comfortable
Zulily has a Clark’s sale right now
I am a teacher who stands all day and I love my Steve Madden flats. Stylish yet comfortable.
Ang Konstantaras I totally agree I have 3 pairs!
Coach outlet had good ballet shoes Check It out ,
Look at Clark’s cloudstepper. Super comfy and since I am always on my feet they help keep my feet pain free. They have a pair that is close to a ballet flat. Check out amazon. They have them there.
