If you ask me, the town is losing out on some great tax money. Noone really cares since they can easily get it from other places around here.

From the article. Marijuana businesses would "fundamentally alter the family-oriented character and stability of our community. ”. …. oh come on! Gotta say if the family-oriented character and stability of our community is so fragile that it can be "fundamentally altered" by the ability to legally buy pot then it can't be worth much anyway. By the way, just a reminder there are drink specials at the Harp and Fiddle tonight for the Lincoln Emerson PTA event. …. just saying!

Very typical of Park Ridge. Miss out on more money.

Ban on recreational marijuana businesses in Park Ridge. Ooh, what a stunner on this.

Here is one that is the best example ever of the blinders about the Marijuana/Alcohol thing. The council is ringing their hands with angst about pot retail. We have comments like the one I pasted above. This has gone on for weeks and weeks. It appears they will end up voting no. So at that same meeting last night (it's on the video posted) the city approved a license for an existing local business. They did so without any comment or discussion. Jewel can not deliver liquor to your house. Apparently there is enough demand that Jewel requested the ability to deliver booze, so it you are too drunk to drive you now have this going for ya. But god forbid we have a store selling brownies in PR! Not here! Come on!

Hahaha, I grew up in Niles, and in high school everyone knew the kids with the best weed were in Park Ridge 🤷‍♀️🤣

Geez, people. I'm sure going to DesPlaines or Mt. Prospect to get your herb won't be that much of a hassle now, will it ?

The council casino’d it. So, where’s the nearest store going to be? Des Plaines? Niles? Edison Park? Asking for a friend.

Wait a minute there's a CBD store in Park Ridge yet the THC store has to be out of Park Ridge? Have you lost your mind? You want to fix the sewer problem? Have Rec weed pay for it.

Is anyone really surprised? The surprise would have been a yes vote to allow it.

This city is losing out to their neighbors in potential tax revenue. Just think all that money could of went to support the building of our schools without asking tax payers. Also could of bought some more street lights and legible street signs

Why look and new streams of revenue when they can continue to tap the tax payer well? Park Ridge has a history of punting when presented with a good opportunity to score.

I have no opinion on marijuana one way or another. It’s a personal choice. But I remain unconvinced that the taxes collected on recreational sales in Park Ridge would make even the tiniest dent in our already soaring property taxes. Look at all the new restaurants and bars that have opened and are packed with patrons. You see any relief in taxes and fees the last couple of years? And they take in significantly more money collectively than a dispensary would.

Just like Park Ridge's slow evolution from 100% dry, then allowing liquor to be served only in restaurants along with food (I think Bailey's was the first? ) to permitting you to order a drink without food and allowing package liquor in supermarkets. and then there was the big brouhaha about how many TV screens are allowed in restaurants. So, as in the past, people will go to Edison Park, Norwood, or DesPlaines to get what they want. It will make no difference in Marijuana usage in P. R. - the only thing is that none of the tax revenue will go to the city. Why? I guess it's all about optics. Park Ridge, stuck in the past. FYI there is a dispensary on Milwaukee near Devon - that's the place I'll be checking out after Jan 1.

According to the article the mayor was quite shocked that only 14 residents came to the meeting!
