All of park ridge is horrid for bikes. I bike with my 5 kids often (point being, our pack is hard to miss! ) and constantly people disobey the law and endanger us. We cross at cross walks with the pedestrian light (ringing our bells to be noticed) and the cars cut us off. It’s awful. Whenever I read about making park Ridge more bike friendly I wonder how we are going to do that cuz the drivers don’t obey very simple signs, lights, and crosswalks as it is. Anyway 💙💙💙 to the person who was hit.
Yikes! Prayers for the injured! I always tell my kids make sure you make eye contact with the driver when crossing the street. The pedestrian or cyclist needs to make sure driver sees them before entering crosswalk. It’s really the only way to remain safe regardless of whether it’s right or not
Remember that the car is bigger than you so you see them way before they see you. Always follow the rules of the road even on your bike. Hope the person is ok!
I urged the city to install Jersey barriers along the DQ curbs years ago. The response was the planters. The planters will not stop a car. It’s only a matter of time before a car careens into the building and kills many people.

That corner is horrible. cars fly. when im sitting at dairy Queen im always afraid that a car is going to jump the curb! I hope the child is ok!
No broken bones. She was taken to hospital for observation. The driver was very shaken up as well. Not sure who’s “fault” it was.

Oh I saw that tonight. Hope the child is ok. I said a prayer when I saw all the bikes on the corner and an ambulance. 🙏

The cop said it was the kids fault. They went thru the intersection with on coming traffic
