Check out Trio Animal Foundation. They rehab extreme cases. We were fortunate enough to adopt one of their dogs. Wright way and Garrido stray rescue are great also.

Paws! Best experience ever! I would never adopt from wright way again! Our last dog was from them, they are all about $. Paws was the same price, dog was fixed, and they refunded us money once we took him to school. Best dog ever! Wright way was all about getting their money and getting the dog out the door.
Fortunate pooches and lab rescure, ad well as wright way rescue

Check the breeds behaviors you think you like along with any allergies you may have towards them. Small or big, less or mor maintenance as well! Vet bills due to the breed would cause a major concern for me! Larger dogs live less years than smaller one too! FYI!
All of them!

I’ll add that my opinion is based on how they operate. They care so much to match the dog to your home/family. You must have a home visit. Any real rescue should require this. Many “rescues” are titled as such because they are no kill shelters. Still admirable, of course, but far from guaranteeing ending up with the best dog for your family, and more importantly for the dog. Most reputable rescues also operate with fosters so you won’t always be able to go visit and browse. Again, this is a pro but most people dog shopping see it as a con. Nothing wrong with going to a helper if you prefer. But a true rescue will and does help play the role of matchmaker and as a result has much better outcomes.
Paws Chicago. If you choose to go there, pm me. A good friend works there and is so helpful in finding the right fit for every family.
Alive Rescue
I got my shin tzu/ schnauzer mix from Illinois Doberman rescue plus. They have lots of dogs all different kinds that need homes ❤️
Almost home foundation
All of them that save lives ❤️ however, I’m pretty partial to Chicagoland Dog Rescue, PAWS, One Tail at a Time, CPRFUND K9 Rescue and Midwest Rescue of Illinois.
I foster dogs through Peace for Pits, Inc. and I think they are the best ever of course! This handsome guy went to his forever home last night.
