As a parent, I am absolutely fine if my kids don’t get a goodie bag after a party.

I keep trying to start a movement to ban goodie bags! 🙂

I hate goody bags so instead I give a small treat such as chocolate suckers from Dipped by Design. You still have something to give but it’s not all crap.

I get that parents don’t like them but kids do. That being said, I also don’t expect my child to get one after a party, but when he does, he likes it. Young only once.

We got all the kids a shirt. Found some cute Batman shirts for $5 from Walmart. The kids loved them and hey are more useful than junk toys. But totally fine to not give anything at all.

We still do them, but not the traditional goody bags with toys. We’ve done reusable water bottles filled with candy one year, a few weeks ago we did baseball pennants from Chicago Dogs because we had a birthday party at a game there, and we’ve also done chocolate pops in the theme of the party (for instance, race cars when we had a party at K-1 Speedway). I don’t think it’s expected, though, and I don’t think anything of it if our kids don’t walk away with something from a party. It’s not necessary. 🙂

Still do them, try to keep them simple and somewhat useful. Just did this for a campfire themed bday party this last weekend. They kids loved them and the parents said “what a great idea” so I think they liked them too?

I used to give them but have stopped. Parents say they don’t like them, that they create clutter and that kids play with them for 30 minutes and forget about them. But some of these suggestions posted here, such as T-shirt’s, seem like good ideas.

Do it if you like but don’t feel obligated.

My kid loves goodie bags, he would never let me throw a party without handing them out! I try to make them awesome though, not full of dollar store junk.

I’d do something that the kids can eat like a cupcake or snack 🙂

I have done them at two parties for my son. They really are not always a necessity anymore though.

Depends on the age. I stopped around age 8 or 9

Depends on the age of the kids. I did them until around 8 or 9, but then when my daughter’s had their first sleepover bdays I’d usually have them do a craft (decorate a T-shirt, paint a canvas) that they would bring home.

I have a lot of customers place orders with me for favors for their kid’s birthdays. Paint your own cookies are big right now. A treat AND an activity. I’d like to think the days of a “goodie bag” with a bunch of junk food/candy and little plastic gadgets are over. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Facebook. com/cookiesandcuts

I say yes goody bags are still in style! However, I haven't received a wedding favor at several of the last weddings I attended. Everyone likes a free gift. Goody bags can be simple. we gave out cereal boxes.

I usually just let kids bring home whatever from the party. My son just had a ninja pool party and they spent and hour and a half wailing on each other with inflatable swords - whatever was still intact after the party the kids took home with them. My daughter had a unicorn pool party this summer and we used inflatable unicorn drink holders that the girls took home. In the winter my oldest did the mani-pedi package at play and spin and the girls took home flip flops that I got for their pedis. We’ve also done beach towels, tie dye shirts, lotion from bath and body works, lots of crafts that they made at the parties. I do generally try to keep it useful if I’m doing goody bags. I definitely do not expect my kids to come home from parties with anything. When kids are age 4 and younger it seems they are really into the goody bags, but they older they get the less they are into it in my experience.

I’m now a grandma and my daughter says most stuff goes in garbage so she is giving a 5. 00 gift card attached to a bag of popcorn and veggie sticks so the child can shop with parent. They live that and not wasted in garbage

Build a bear in Rosemont is a cute idea for a party of 5 or 6. That’s the gift and party is there. A done deal!

We just had a piñata for our last party and handed the kids empty goodie bags that they could use to collect their candy
