We have a Mama Cat and (at least) 2 kittens that have been hanging around under our back porch on and off for a few days now in Park Ridge. Mama looks healthy. From the brief glimpses I’ve seen of the babies, they look healthy too. Probably a few weeks old? I’m really not sure. Anyway, what should we do? Try to trap them to take them to the shelter? Feed them? Hope they go back home?

Yes food and water ASAP! Then maybe call a shelter tomorrow and seek their advise. I’m guessing they will want to to retrieve them and place in foster care. A old towel or blankie would be nice too

Try to trap them. Do you have access to a have a heart trap? Can you feed the mama and give her water? Can you take a picture of the babies ? I can help. I have a trap that a friend is borrowing, but I can get it back. My current cat was a mama cat with 5 babies. We kept the mama.

I would love to have the cats we feed trapped and neutered or spayed, but can't afford to pay a vet to do that. At one point during winter there were 8 coming around. Now we have 3 regulars and 2 others once in awhile. Feral Fixers were trying to trap them but no luck.

That’s the best I could get. My daughter said she saw 3 kittens. We just put out food and water. We also have skunks around so hopefully they don’t get into it with them. I will definitely call a shelter tomorrow

Anti-Cruelty Society downtown can advise as well. They do regular field pick-ups of strays and will treat them, spay/neuter, get them into foster care if too young for adoption, and then get them adopted.
