Looking for some info/advice from Royal Caribbean cruisers close to Park Ridge. We've never been and are a little confused as to how the dining works. Are there any set times at all? Can you dine from place to place with the basic plan? If you reserve a signature restaurant is everything included? This is for the Allure of the Seas.

We are doing RC this summer, Chris! I don't know the answers to these yet. There are 23 of us so I am a bit overwhelmed.

It's been a few years, but I was on an RC cruise. Main dining room had assigned times and tables. There are other options, but you do need to make a reservation and pay extra for some of them.

You can choose a dining seating time where you will eat in the main dining room at the same time every day at the same table. Or you can choose the my time dining and go to the dining room whenever you want or eat at the other free restaurants or pay for speciality dining. Everything is included with specialty dining, except alcohol unless you have the drink package as well.

RC has a great website. With your reservation number you can set up your cruise planner and all will be explained. My time dining lets you make a reservation in the main dining room any time that's convenient for you. Not sure about your ship but on ours, the Steak restaurant was 35 extra pp and the Japanese is totally ala carts, meaning you pay for everything like you would in a restaurant. Drinks are all extra as well as the Internet. Use your cruise planner to buy all the extras. And there are a lot of them.

I loved Allure of the Seas. I believe the two dining times were 6pm or 8:30 to choose from. To get a set dining time you need to opt for "My Time dining" and it's better to pre arrange for that. Signature restaurants I believe covered everything you ate there but we never tried it because the food in the main dining rooms were very good. Enjoy your cruise!
