Struggling to find an endocrinologist who specializes in thyroid disease nearby Park Ridge. The last 2 who were referred by my GP were horrible. Anyone have one they love?

Liana Billings, MD @ NorthShore (Skokie). Was recommended to me as well. She is excellent.

Curious, my thyroid is hypo & My levels still fluctuate, is an endo the route to follow as opposed to GP?

My GP who has also studied natural medicine is far better than any of the endocrinologist (some from northwestern) I've seen. He looks at everything that affects the thyroid. Unfortunately he's in Bartlett but worth the drive. You have to be open minded he'll give you vitamins and minerals as well as rx. His name is dr. Ric saguil.

Contact Dr. Edward Paloyan's office, I believe he is in Hinsdale or Westmontnow. I went to him for almost 25 years; he had patients come from all over the world as he was known to be "the best", an incredible man. He was originally Head Surgeon and Endocrinologist at Loyola University Hospital. He may be semi-retired but I am sure his office would be able to refer you to someone wonderful if he is no longer taking patients. Thyroid problems are very tricky - you do need someone who knows what they are doing. I believe his number is 630-655-0722 Good luck!

I would try a functional/holistic dr vs an Endo. I've not had luck with any endos.

Quite honestly all endos book out far in advance, especially when they're some of the best. Each patient is different so it is important that you find a doctor that listens to you and treats you based on your symptoms and how you're feeling. Numbers don't always paint a perfect picture for doctors when it comes to thyroid disease. A functional medicine MD will take much more into consideration. I suggest starting that route. There's just so much info out there it can make one's head spin. http://hypothyroidmom.com/30-online-resources-to-find-a-good-thyroid-doctor/

Thank you ladies! I'm kinda jealous you all have drs you are getting results out of! All the ones I've seen have taken great interest in me bc my numbers are through the roof and I'm on a high dose of Levo but even when the numbers "look good" the symptoms are the exact same! I have yet to find a dr. that makes me feel any better! Hoping I get lucky this time. Thanks again

I have been to 2 different endos and I found Anjitha Thomas with Dr Epperly's office in Bloomingdale is amazing and worth the short drive. She listens and does more blood work to get to the root of your problem.

There is a Facebook group called "Thyroid Midwest group (il in wi)", that group is very knowledgeable, I would suggest joining for guidance to many questions.

Dr. koh from Lutheran General is THE BEST. my daifhter suffedred for almost two years with what we called a mysterious disease because not one doctor she went to could find out what was wrong with her. Dr. Koh figured it out in one visiand and an MRI. He is by far The best doctor ever with a wonderful bedside manner. It may take two months to see him but worth the wait.

You should also have testing done on the pituitary gland.
