I am putting a remote starter on my car within Park Ridge. It is $100 extra to have "2 way" which is when a light blinks to tell you the car did start. I'm thinking I can live without this confirmation since I usually just start it at home. I know sometimes I'll start it when I am out and can't see the car but I'm thinking it won't be that often. I'm looking for opinions. will I regret not getting the two way? Thanks!

I had a remote start with my old car. I would wait to make sure I heard the car start before turning away - that was always my cue. I think it depends on the car you have - if it's a quiet start car you may benefit from the lights, if not I think you could live without.

I almost always use my remote start when I'm within sight of the car, so I can tell on my own. Do you have onstar? If you remote start through the app, it will tell you if the car started successfully.

Get the light. Sometimes if it's too cold mine doesn't always start the first time and the lights are the only thing I can clearly see from my window!

You can also find it easier in a parking lot!

Won't your lights turn on automatically once the car is started, weather it's remote or actual key?

You will want to have the two way, the confirmation is key.

I wouldn't waste the money. Your lights will go on when the car is started so you will know it's running.

Don't waste the money. The lights go on anyway when the car starts with the remote start.

Thank you for all the advice. Ugh! I haven't counted but it looks like your votes are 50/50. I've never had a remote start but it is probably the type of thing that I would know instantly the first time I try one. I think I need to borrow a friend's car to try it, lol.

Ask where the light goes on. Is it on the fob? If it's the fob then it's really not necessary. I don't even pay attention to the light on my fob because I trust the car more!

On both my vehicles, a 2005 and a 2016, we have the remote start. The rear lights and front lights go on when we start the car with the remote start.

Do you mean a light blinks on your key fob? It's unnecessary unless you are always starting your car from a place you can't actually see/hear it (like in a detached garage).

Where are you going to get this done?

The 2 way is nice when you're about to leave a restaurant in the dead of winter and have parked a block away. It sucks walking to your car to find it still ice cold.

PSA: my husband has on his car and we used to live in a house with attached garage; I would not let him park it in the garage because it had randomly started before. Just want to make sure you are not parking it in attached garage. Scares the crap out of me.

Sorry. I wasn't clear originally. The lights on the car will light when started with either one war or two but with the two way a confirmation light blinks in the fob in case you can't see ur car. Thank you for all the thoughts!
