Hi friends, I'm reaching out to all of you in hopes that we can pull together donations for our brothers and sisters in TN as so many of them lost everything near Park Ridge. I would like to set up a donation site for drop offs for many toys and clothing for all the families impacted by the horrific fires plaguing TN. Anyone willing to help me?

I can donate. Gatlinburg is one of my favorite places. Please keep me posted if you are able to put something together

Are you trying to get it together before Christmas?

This is a wonderful thought but why not let the professionals handle this? How will you truck these items back and forth to Tennessee, for example? Perhsps it would be better to donate to the Red Cross and specify that the donation should go to TN.

I contacted both the Chicago and Milwaukee Red Cross and they cannot take donations of items only monetary donations and I am not going to ask via this page for that because they're are too many scam artists that ruin it for good people. I am now contacting the Salvation Army.

Thanks for looking into this. I'm sure that most of us can donate some amount to help our fellow Americans who have lost so much. The Red Cross does a great job too.

I have contacted Jim from the location and number mentioned within the last paragraph. A friend sent me this. Let's keep our fingers crossed that this is our way of getting donations where needed.

I'm sad to say that I spoke with Salvation Army disaster service and they have not been activated to help the Gatlinburg/Knoxville community and therefore will not be able to accept any items for donation. Money is our only option at this point. Otherwise their suggestion (which I am not opposed to at all) would be to donate to our local metropolitan Salvation Army for our local in need families. Either way I want to get off my butt and start to help. Our world needs as much kidness as we all have to offer. Anyone have suggestions? I'm all ears and eager to help! Thank you all for your interest, desire to help and mostly for walking through this first time with me!

Tiffany, did you say you had friends there? My husband gets like 80% discount on ups shipping since he uses it daily for work. Maybe if we get a contact on the ground that we can ship items to and they can distribute to families in need. Just a thought but I will keep thinking of ideas! Please keep me in touch
