I just read all the comments on the D64 thoughtexchange, and boy was that depressing in Park Ridge. Especially the comments from staff/teachers--they are the ones with the intel about what is really happening in schools.

I'm tired of hearing my kids coming home and telling me they had another substitute because their teachers got pulled out of class for another meeting. I'm sad that teachers tell me they got pulled out of class for another meeting.

I still need to read the comments but was at the school board meeting mon night where an overview was presented. Are you saying your experience was depressing because you feel the district teacher's input is not being taken into account regarding the classrooms Carolyn Pajor Ford? Or that the comments being made are themselves depressing to learn of?

I thought it was depressing b/c teacher morale seems super low. There doesn't seem to be much differentiation happening. There seems to be an overabundance of testing and assessments and preparation for testing. All of these things are not good.
