I'm very nervous and need your help in Park Ridge. Does anyone have any experience with Dr Halpern as an oral surgeon? Also I was quoted over 2 k for teeth I think aren't completely impacted . I worked as an oral surgery asst for many years and I am so confused . These to me are soft tissue impactions and he is quoting me full bony impactions. Help!

Perhaps you should get a second opinion. This is a great practice with multiple locations http://www.oralsurgery-hicd.com/

If it doesn't sound right, don't do it. Get another opinion

Did the quote include anesthesia? Local, IV or general?

Nope! He was pushing for general and I don't think my son needs general ! All the cases I assisted for that had their teeth come in super straight and already through, I don't think he needs general

I just went to him last week for a consultation on my teens wisdom teeth extractions - he was my second opinion - he was less than the first oral surgeon we consulted with - Although cheaper we will not be using him. I thought his staff was extremely unprofessional and they kept us waiting over an hour and a half.

Dr. Zidron in Deer Park did my oral surgery and my fathers. He was amazing! Try him for a second opinion

I had three wisdom teeth pulled, two partially impacted. Total cost was around $3600-$3800, but thankfully the place I went also processed through my medical insurance when my dental limit was reached. My out of pocket was something like $350. I was completely under.

Are you able to use your medical insurance?

I would get a second opinion and call insurance, medical and dental to see how much is covered by anyone.

Unless he has changed his policy, he wants full payment before the procedure and then bills the insurance.

Check dental schools. Not sure who is still out there UIC. Also, Dentalworks, Dr. Gutto.

He did my wisdom teeth a couple years ago. I woke up during and they had to give me more which resulted in me not being able to wake up and ended up staying on their recovery couch for 3 hours. Other than that I thought they were a fair price and very nice and helpful.

I would ask for the x-ray as well.

If the wisdom teeth are fully bony impacted then they are usually covred by medical insurance. If you are in an HMO then you need a referral from your PCP to an in-network oral surgeon. Maybe check out Dr. Loeser in Park Ridge. He participates in some medical plans.

I went to Northwestern Dental school a long time ago, 1997. None impacted. It was $25/ tooth with local anesthesia. They are definitely overcharging nowadays. I have teens who need theirs out and I'm getting crazy quotes too with insurance.

Besides my wisdom teeth I have had many oral surgeries starting when I was 9 for a broken jaw and I'm in my thirties now. I have only gone to one group and they are the best. I also worked for a dentist who refers to this group. Give them a try. http://www.oralsurgery-hicd.com/
