Park Ridge is $130 for a 3 month membership for residents. You still have to pay extra for classes at Centennial and you have to pay more to rent a locker. This is what our property taxes don't get us:

PR has a special currently 100 days for $100 but the childcare rate went up to $4 /hr on their forms but the website says it's $3. 5/hr :(

What do you get for $100 in 100 days in Park Ridge. I'd pay the extra $9 in Niles for all the extras.

Doesn't just blow PRPD away, it blows FFC away too

Is child care included in that or is it extra?

I would love more posts that talk about what we like about Park Ridge. I am surprised so many people live here that are so unhappy with it. Lots of homes for sale in the surrounding burbs if you are so unhappy.

Have you seen the facilities? I hear they are small and dated.

Regular rate for Niles is $139 for three month resident membership, $9 more than PR. And you are incorrect about the lockers in PR. They are free. Monthly annual memberships are $33 Niles and $34 PR. Sounds comparable to me.

After my terrible incident at a local gym (my baby was kissed on the lips by the babysitter-who had an open sore in her mouth- in the gyms nursery which was in front of me) I'm quite leery of who I trust with my babies. I started going to the Niles FFC back in December and I love it. There is a zero depth pool with a big water slide for my kids, the nursery is clean and the babysitters are just wonderful (I pay 179$ unlimited visits for all kids in household for 6 months). I totally recommend it.

A solution could be to move to Niles, just saying.

We ( Park Ridge) have a health club, not a park district. It's shameful and we pay a ton to get nothing

The Niles family fitness center is run by the village not the park district. It has lost money since it opened costing tax payers to subsidize it.

Yes, the Niles Family Fitness Center is not part of the Niles Park District, it is supported by the Village of Niles.

Might I just add that you have to take into consideration where your friends are, where your kids' friends are and where you feel a sense of community. I understand that for YOU it's about the money, but for others, it may be worth spending a few extra bucks. That doesn't make us stupid, uninformed or misled. We may choose to save elsewhere. Your approach to bringing awareness is just sometime demeaning and insulting. Knowledge is power, but we are all entitled to an opinion, and to choose where/how we spend our money.

That's the thing, though. Pricing people out of the park district doesn't instill a sense of community. There are a lot of us who would love to be able to send our kids to camp with their friends. We would love to have a little extra to do that. It would totally be with it but x3 kids and a lower tax bracket it just isn't feasible. That's the problem. Members of the community should not be priced out.

Please keep to the issue, not the person posting. Thanks .
