Some good mail from the city in Park Ridge. Our neighborhood has been decimated by ash borers the past couple of years.

I responded in haste (must be the blackhawks loss) and wish to amend my comment. This is a great thing that the city is doing and appreciate all of the help we can get as citizens.

We lost our elm and it was replaced with 2 oak trees. We lost our 2 ash trees but the city ran out of trees two years ago. We got our two linden trees last spring. One was share the cost and one was to makeup for running out of trees the year before. I'd say the forestry department is doing the best job they can with what they have to work with.

Sorry Steve Paschos - that does sound so frustrating. Maybe with these two new"er" foresters working in tandem now things will be tended to efficiently. I think the position(s) have had relatively significant turnover

What I don't understand is the city making the investment in trees and the gator bags to help them get started only to leave the bags on FOREVER. These bags are meant to be removed after they have done their job of supplying the new tree with water. By not removing the bags the city is damaging the very trees they planted.
