Does anyone know of recent changes in this property in Park Ridge?

It's for sale. Friedman owns it currently. I believe Friedman bought it from the Feds in an auction. The previous owner was convicted of fraud a few months ago for bilking foreign investors.

Chris is right. Friedman owns the adjacent hotel. Another local group (Glenstar) purchased the site just across from the Al's Beef/Nancy's Pizza and is looking at mulitfamily, retail and office.

Someone told me that a developer is looking at it for subsidized housing. Not sure if there is any truth to that

I heard that they are going to build luxury micro apartments for people who work at the airport. I think that means that they will end up being investment properties rented out as AirB&Bs. I haven't heard anything else since I read the article in the Herald a couple of months ago, though.

That property is in Chicago proper, and I highly doubt that we Park Ridgeans will have anything to say as to its ultimate development. Adding fuel to the rumor fires, I've been told "by very reliable sources" that the ex-VFW property on Canfield & Higgins was destined to become a MacDonalds, but the deal fell through for one reason or another --- anybody know whether there is a sliver of truth in that rumor?

The 8600 Higgins site (where part of the Marriott once stood) is slated for a 9 story office building -- plans for retail and residential mixed use on the site have been scrubbed. Per Crain's Real Estate news.
