Were there really no vacant designated office spaces in Park Ridge? That whole office building next to St Paul of the Cross always has a leasing sign out. That area is getting so much more foot traffic that could support retail. Actually a landlord can't rent to whomever they want in that location. That's why it required a special use permit. But we pretty much give anyone a special use permit now.

Just to add more information. Without starting an argument, I want to point out that the landlord was at the meeting and mentioned that the space has been available since June 2016 and the only interest they have had is from 2 nail salons(I'm not kidding) and a karate studio. Also, the special use is limited to Pusheen only and will disappear when they leave the space, which is unlike many of the other special use permits in our town, that have created a perpetual non-retail use cycle.

Like I said, the landlord can seek a special use to rent to whomever they want. It's just a bummer that some fun retail won't be going into the space. A Pusheen boutique would be fun. Office space when we already have office buildings with vacancies? Bummer.

They need to be close to their other offices and warehouse, all on that block. Also, I'm hoping that they use their window space to hype their products and drive traffic to their website. Sales made online, to Park Ridge residents, will generate state and local sales tax. Sales to IL residents generate state sales tax, which come back to Park Ridge in a small way.

Maybe the existing open office space in Park Ridge doesn't fit their requirements. Maybe this retail space does. The businesses around this new office will benefit having more people in the area. Seems ok. Better to be leased vs not

We could use a sports book casino with big flat screens. Maybe even be the first to get an electronic bubble craps machine in the Chicagoland area? One can only dream.

Had. no idea other offices were here. If it is artist space it would be cool to allow visits/tours to Cub/boy/Girl Scouts, etc.

Everyone claims they want retail, but seriously how much do you spend at them. I've lived in Park Ridge now for ten years and I barely go to the retail locations. I mainly use my chiropractor, dentist, restaurants, and starbucks. I recently added how much I've spent in retail in ten years besides what I mentioned above it was probably at most $400 a year.

I'm happy to welcome Pusheen to Park Ridge and would love to host a pop up concept store at my business, Jack and Jill! Great way to introduce Pusheen to this wonderful community! My daughters already have Pusheen swag they love!
