A stormwater utility (SWU) is considered to be a fair and equitable way to fund stormwater projects and would support the City’s drainage system and flood issues in Park Ridge. This item was approved by the Finance and & Budget committee on 9/26/16 by a vote of 4-3. My opponent voted against it. The item was then brought to the City Council on 10/3/16 and was approved with a vote of 4-3, again, my opponent voted nay. No one wants to pay more, but let’s be realistic, this is a problem that must be dealt with. My opponent sits on the Public Works Committee. One would expect some leadership from him, instead of his just sitting there like a bump on a log. We can’t just stick our heads in the sand. We need to be adults and deal with the real problems that face our community. Jack S. Barnette, Candidate, Ward 4 Alderman
