Got a Friends of Fuksa robo- call about an hour ago in Park Ridge. Makes me wonder what kind of campaign funding this guy was able to attain? Who will be profiting off of his mayoralship should he win that they would dump all this money into his campaign for commercials before the movie a the Pickwick, robo-calls, mailers, yard signs, sponsored Facebook ads etc. No one puts up that kind of money without expecting something in return. No one.

Hey --- regardless of your politics, you gotta listen to what he sez, and a lot of his message makes sense, at least to me, and at least the 'Park Water issue' . Vote whatever your conscience sez to do so :)

I was thinking the same thing when I saw the sticker on the Advocate today.

I got a call from a person last week asking for support for Fuksa. Does make you wonder about funding.

I think it is HILARIOUS that I brought up the Evanston water pipeline two years ago and only about 5 people commented. The five of us got our answers and were satisfied with response, disappointed that Morton Grove and Niles cut Park Ridge out of the equation but they are entitled since they are the towns closest to Evanston and we are not and they had to do what was best. Perhaps once the pipeline is finished and operational for a few years they might let us tap in? This isn't about water pipelines that we were never apart of in the first place. This is about making Park Ridge more streamlined for developers to profit off of. It is about the mayor being able to appoint a zoning commissions and an appearance commissions that are sympathetic to Fuksa's pals who are funding his campaign. He will not be beholden to us — the voters. We didn't give him any money. He will be beholden to the men who bought him if he wins.

I got a call last week. Told them No thanks you. One real estate developer having a say in my life is enough.

I think this is a ridiculous post. It's called a "surround sound" campaign. Marketing 101. This page should be renamed "Park Ridge Homeowners Against Mayoral Competition Ever". I have to laugh.

Robocalls are cheap, but his mail is nice. I suspect the Liberty Principles PAC might be involved.

I work in advertising and also freelanced at an agency that strictly did campaign marketing and direct mail for U. S. senators, representatives and governors. It takes some serious bank to pull "Marketing 101" off. Just wondering what is expected in return for that kind of investment.

How about a small-donor public financing system for elections then? If we all agree that big money donors in Park Ridge elections is suspicious and bad for our community, there actually are proven systems to eliminate (or at least minimize) their impact in future elections. Lots of people have been talking about wanting to hear some fresh ideas. How about being one of the first cities in IL to prevent special interest-funded elections?

*yawn* How's about we trust our neighbors to weigh the veracity of each candidate's statements, regardless of how many times they see those statements, and vote accordingly? The amount of money being spent is irrelevant, but who is spending might be. might be.
