Wow. Regular people, including businesspeople -- not just the nuns, bless them -- talking about doing the moral and economically smart thing around Park Ridge? Perhaps there is hope. So ask your friendly neighborhood "non-partisan" candidates where they stand. And do keep in mind that the value of the federal minimum wage peaked in 1968 when it was raised to $1. 60 an hour -- equal to $11. 20 today when adjusted for inflation. The current federal minimum wage of $7. 25 per hour was set in 2009 while Illinois last raised the minimum wage in 2010, to $8. 25 an hour. http://www.journal-topics.com/news/article_8ce179fe-0f08-11e7-a154-63ae8fe1d758.html#.WNML0NMRIyA.facebook

Like Chris Rock says, "You know what that means when someone pays you minimum wage? You know what your boss was trying to say? "Hey if I could pay you less, I would, but it's against the law. ”

Interesting that Rosemont opted out of the minimum wage hike seeing as their town is worth billions in conventions and hotel revenue. Are the hotels that strapped? Well, I looked into what the COEs of some of the Rosemont hotels make: https://skift.com/2014/05/02/the-10-most-highly-compensated-hotels-ceos-of-2013/

So my FIL's college just put pizza in a vending machine. This now requires one person working 4hrs to maintain it so it pumps out an unlimited supply of pizza's to students every 24 hrs. Wendy's and McDonalds are installing kiosks to take your order and now Amazon is testing a grocery service where the item gets rung up to your account as soon as it is placed in the grocery cart. The moral of this story is: if you can be replaced by a robot, you will be.
