So impressed with the Park Ridge City Hall employee who called me this morning to double check the meter reading I did on my water bill. She explained that she suspected that I inverted a number and would have received an $1800 water bill. The revenue department could have just sent out the bill anyway, freaked me out and dealt with it later but now I really feel like there are dedicated city employees who are looking out for us. Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback. I've been telling residents for awhile that a "cultural shift" is taking place at city hall. Responsiveness and accountability to the residents is at the center of that shift. It's not perfect yet, even a great employee can have a bad day or interaction, but it's headed in the right direction. Comments like this are encouraging!

I received a similar call today from Rosemary. I really appreciate the attention to detail.

Thanks for posting this, Kathy Meade - stats used to say a happy customer tells 3 people and an unhappy one tells 11 -- now those numbers are, of course, exponentially bigger. And some research says we are hardwired to remember bad stuff more than good because survival depends on it. So I'm starting right here saying thanks to you!
